Octavia Housing and their competition partners have been awarded funding to create an exemplar low energy home though The Technology Strategy Board’s Retrofit for the Future programme, which aims to implement drastic cuts in carbon emissions from existing social housing, helping the UK to meet its target of an 80% reduction in carbon emissions overall by 2050.
Octavia, alongside their competition partners, will carry out an innovative refurbishment on a Victorian terraced social home, which they are hoping to register as the UK’s first certified retrofit to Passivhaus standards. This mean the home must use less than 15kWh of energy to heat it per m2 per year, compared to the UK average of 130kWh. Read more
