Works are proceeding well and the super insulation, thermal roof panels, air source heat pump and ventilation system have been installed.
A preliminary air tightness test has been carried out showing that the air changes per hour were significantly below the Passivhaus target figure and would enable the building to hopefully achieve accreditation on this criterion.
Following further consultation with Octavia’s Housing Management department, who deal with allocating properties to tenants, the kitchen has been moved to the basement with the resulting loss of one bed space - the updated building plans will be available on this site soon.
The workshop for the manufacture of the new windows is up and running and the new windows will be installed shortly.
Due to unforeseen delays the estimated completion date on site is now mid November. An event will be held on completion to give people the chance to see the house in its finished state, experience the ventilation system running and find out more information about the costs, carbon savings, build process and much more. If you are interested in coming along please email green@octaviahousing.org.uk.
